Life isn’t always what you expect–sometimes it’s so much better! After years of infertility, I am a still-shocked 40-something mama to a bouncy toddler who keeps me on my toes!
Being a first-time parent in my 40s brings interesting challenges. Many of our friends are looking at colleges for their kids and we have a couple years until our little one starts preschool. We are a decade (or more) older than the vast majority of the parents in Little Man’s classes. I’ve been asked more than once if I am Mom or Grandma. (Seriously, never ask this question.) And I certainly feel those sleepless nights a bit more now than I did years ago.
Of course, with age comes maturity, and I find myself more patient than when I was younger. More resourceful.
And whole lot more caffeinated. 🙂
I balance my time between rounds of Itsy-Bisty Spider with freelance writing and marketing assignments, lots of time in the kitchen trying out new recipes, and working out so that I can keep up with a crazy toddler that just doesn’t stop.
Oh, and drinking way too much coffee.

In the midst of moving and packing and renovating while trying to keep life as close to normal a possible, I caved and tried out sheet-pan dinners. And I am IN LOVE!
I’ve been a little lacking in keeping up with this blog since we found out we were moving back home last year. It’s been a whirlwind—hubby’s new job offer came while we were in Disney last September, and three and a half weeks later we were packed and moved. Easy-peasy, right?
I love this new Christmas recipe–Peppermint Mocha mini-cupcakes. These were perfect little bites of heaven–rich chocolate, cool peppermint, and just a hint of coffee. I definitely will be making this one again!
